Just a quick question people...............

Is it possible to cook/fry a series II PTU? For example......

The series I gets foo-bared with high temps ( I believe), but can the series II PTU get cooked.... lets say, if in the wrong location, with affect from a high engine temp and in the wrong location?

Got some issues with my 300, and just want to eliminate some avenues....

Hope this makes sense......

Alz.

I reckon all the chrome in your engine bay is at such an angle that the suns rays ping around causing excessive heat, which has resulted in the failure of your series 2 power transistor unit mr alan :cool2:

You are most welcome alan. I was hoping it was a useful suggestion. :tt2:

I dont know the real answer, not all of us are rich like you and can afford to upgrade to series 2

Less likely to fry than the series one. The upgrade is supposed to eliminate the problems associated with the series one. When i originally replaced mine for a series 2 PTU i placed it in the original location for the first 2 years and have now moved it under the headlight panel, had no issues in either place.

What problem are you having? it might not be the PTU but possibly the wiring/plugs, the extra loom is normally at fault.
