IIRC, there are a few letters, or memos etc. that people have printed out and taken with them to their MOT, I think one to do with emissions, and maybe one to do with a small amount of play in a ball joint or something? After 5 and a half years, I shall be taking her for an MOT this week :) I was wondering if anyone has a link to any, or all of these things, I would like to take as much ammunition with me as possible to ensure a pass :)

Cheers, Tudor...

If your car is pre 91 then emmissions test is only a basic one anyway, never had any probs with mine, and if your going to a reputable MOT centre then tbh if they do fail on ball joints it will only be if its very excessive play.

There was an old MOT special notice relating to front suspension arm play - from Andys site: http://www.300zx.org.uk/nissan_bulletin.htm

upto mid 95 vehicles are non cat test as the Z32 is not in the emissions database

HTH :)

Was there something about the brake test, not using a rolling road because of the LSD?

Correct!

LSD vehicles should not be tested in brake rollers

We have a brake plate tester so does not affect us

If I remember correctly,

The 300zx does not appear on the emissions date base, therefore it needs to be put through a BET test (BEST EMISSION TEST)of which it will fail.

This then takes the test onto a none cat emission test. So long as your CO2 then reads less than 3.5% (Which it should) you will be OK.

Bloody Hell, someone else in coventry! Never seen you out and about. I'm in Keresley lol

It's nearly time for my MOT, and with the exhaust i've got on mine any info would be a great help ;) ;)

Hi Cov Rob,

I have been off the road for the last 4 years or so with the dreaded tin worm. :excl:

I have to say the MOT was a bit of a nightmare, particularly the emissions. I had to get clarification from VOSA to convince the test station about the none cat test irrespective of the year. The real bummer was the rear break lines, they are very susceptible to heavy corrosion, I had to replace the whole rear section. (sub-frame out job!!!):taz:

The next major hurdle was the excessive movement in the rear wheels, they kept going on about the metalastik bushes, so I replaced them all. Still failed, Turned out to be the inner rear hicas track rod ends.

Finally passed in time for me to get some summer driving in, at last.

Maybe still 1 or 2 more outings possible before she is SORN. (WEATHER PERMITTING)

Good to hear about a fellow Coventry Zed.

By the way, Potters Green Area for me.

lol I think 99.99% of motors with lsd's are tested on the rollers, I know for the last 7 years all the tests I've had were done on rollers
