I've just had a blether with my engine builder and thought i'd see what your opinions are.

I'm having a full engine rebuild and will be running HKS GT2510s. These are complete with HKS elbows.

Before i got my hands on the HKS tubs i got a nice set of Z1 4 bolt split downpipes. These are obviously now useless as i need 5 bolt downpipes for the HKS tubs.

Anyhoos, i was going to try and get a set of the Z1 5 bolt split downpipes. My engine builder told me not to bother - the HKS elbows will be fine. From his experience, unless i'm hoping to run 1000bhp the difference is completely negliable.

Whats your thoughts on this? Only actually experience please.

Thanks

Ooo, sorry just saw the 'only actual experience bit please'. Doubt anyone has done a split downpipe on its own

I'd probably say he's right. It's one of those mods based on a theory, but actual gain from splitting the two flows of exhaust for a further 10cm's out the back of the turbo is probably negligible and not worth the expense alone if you already have elbows that will fit your tubs!
