Welcome to the never ending pit of owning a Z.

First of all dont trust the stock boost gauge. What Bar is it reading? If the PSI is working, 13psi is about to 0.9bar. Stock turbo boost is 9psi which is about 0.64 bar.

The way to find out if its been chipped is to have a look at the ECU it think. Dont ask me how to do it I have no idea. Some one will tell you soon I should think

The Darkside is strong in you

Welcome Tony, ECU is under a wooden kick panel on the passenger side footwell. Square metal box with a large plug with a shite load of wires going in.

Remove the holding screws, then unscrew the holding screw for the plug. Off plug, out ECU and then undo the lid.

If it has been chipped you should see a chip plugged into a socket on the main board. Have a butchers, if all chips are hard soldered onto the board bud it hasn't been chipped as far as I am aware. Unless anyone has removed the original Nissan chip and then hard soldered another chip in. In most cases the stock chip has to be removed and a plug/socket put in its place so that you can then just plug an aftermarket chip in.

THANKS 4 THE INFO IWILL CHECK IT OUT AFTER HOLS ,GOIN TO DEVON IN MY 24V COSWORTH GRANADA,GOOD OLD BUS ,THEN WILL BE SELLING IT,CONCENTRATING ON THE Z32,THE NON STOCK BOOST GAUGE IS A GREDDY,WITH TRUST PLASTERD ON IT,BUT ITS NOT IN PSI,NOR DOES IT SAY bar,IT GOES UPTO 1.5Kgm ,OR SOME THING LIKE THAT,SO IS IT JUST TO REPLACE STOCK GAUGE OR WHAT,THANKS,

PS IF YOU NEED PICTURE I'LL POST ONE.

You got to be sure if its chipped to make your insurance valid. A neighbour of mine has an Escort cossie and had a wiring fire. Went to claim on the insurance and the assessor opened up the ECU and found an upgrade chip which said neighbour knew nowt about. Result was insurance declared void but at least he got his premium back - didnt cover the damage thought.
