does anyone no what this is

hi everyone ,

does anyone no what this is?(maybe alarm immobiliser)

i found this behind my stereo, its a small grey/black box about 4x4x1 inch

on the front it has written

CUR20-GB

NISSAN(LOGO)

MPT.1340

WT LICENCE EXEMPT

on the side there is a slot for a 17 pin plug and 2 single slots with rx and tx wrote next to them, also a live power lead coming of it to my car

now my car problems started after i disconnected this unit from my car( not sure if its a coincidence)

probs with car:- no lights(except main and full beam)no indicators and interior lights, engine wont turn over,no stereo,

its like ive got another immobiliser?

since this started 2 days ago ive only had the car start and electrics as normal once ,this was when i tapped the fuse box under the bonnet(drivers side near the windscrean)

ive checked all the fuses and they are all ok

ive reconnected the box and my car still wont start.

can anyone help plz

this is doing my head (no car)

Licence exempt suggests a wireless transmitter/receiver, so I would guess something like a receiver for remote alarm/locking/immobiliser etc

No sure whether UK models had Nissan alarms etc as std or options, I think some of the US models might have done.

The Nissan CUR 20-GB alarm/immobiliser was fitted to UK Zs by Nissan. I used to have one in my UK Z.

Check with Bob at www.safeandsoundchester.co.uk. I gave him the service manual for Nissan alarms which included this type. It had a circuit diagram showing the units connection points into the Z wiring and electrics.

Hi

Just a thought have you checked the fuses in the fuse box,Has the car started since you tampered with the grey box,Are you getting fuel or spark at the plugs

cheers

Yeah...its deffo an immobiliser. I recently had the engine out of my 1990 UK auto TT. When the engine was put back and connected the garage phoned me and asked for my OTHER immobiliser sender.

I'd had the car a couple of years and had NO IDEA what they were talking about. Seems they had inadvertently connected up an immobiliser that had been 'by-passed'...probably because it was being faulty. Had to get in an alarms/immobiliser specialist to sort it.

On another note have you seen my posting to you regarding splitting the cost of GTi-R leads??

cheers for the advice guys

i found my problem!

have alook in ya fuse box near ya brake fluid res,on the left do you have a fuse which is connected by a loop of wire or do you have a fuse connector like the other 4-5

fuse connectors, well mine was a piece of wire which had snapped(looks like a diy job)

i must of knocked it when cleaning my engine compartment and as it was taped up with lecky tape i didnt/couldnt see it.

so take note if this happens to ya cos its a pain in the arse to find
