Ford mk1 escort mexico on ebay classified for £12,595 Item number: 230689341348 have a clear memory of sitting on my Raleigh Chopper with my mates and seeing one of these pull out of a car park sideways! as he snaked down the road me and my mates were awe struck and this one looks mint.

Sure its a reminising thing but I cannot get the thought out of my head that if Ford were to reproduce the Mexico, the R2000 etc. with new shells that look the very same but with modern mechanics and electronics they would go like hot cakes!

Now, I'm no expert but Did genuine AVO shells have sunroofs?-if it's an add on surely takes from the car?:detective:

I agree, I think they would definately sell.Would be a lot better than the current rash of new cars with old names that are about at the moment such as the Scirroco, fiat 500 etc.First car I can remember as a kid was my dads mk1 1300gt escort, white with black vinyl interior.can remember the seats used to get bloody hot in the summer and burn your legs with shorts on!

On a similar note suzuki built the 1100 Katana in the early eighties, and re-released it in Japan around 2001 and sold out almost immediately.it was virtually the same as the original and was probably the ultimate retro.

The type 49 shell could be bought with a webasto but not a sunroof like that. Its been added.shame but still a cracking car imho.

I remember that .Whoever at ford sanctioned that is a tw#t.I just cant believe that someone thought it was worthy of a mexico badge ! Its an insult to its predecessors.

Forgive me, but what makes that different to any other mk6?!

not the wheels, they're aftermarket!

they also did a "rs2000" that shape piece of shite. id love a mk1 or 2 but they are now well out my price range and definatly too expensive and treasured to be throwing around in the way id want to drive it lol.

My dad took me to look an orange one of these for my first car at 17 (£700 in 1983) I turned it down and had a Datsun 120y instead:blushing:
