Another whats wrong here then?

Ok typical job of propshaft vibration, in fact a particular acute one, however when we removed the prop we were surprised to see a recent centre support bearing, however a closer look revealed a little more..... over to you guys.

Inside of the differential coupling looks a bit damaged.:excl:

Maybe whoever fitted the new centre support bearing forgot to tighten up the hexagon headed screws?

The ones that secure the prop-shaft to it.

Just a guess mind.

the leak on the diff looks severe . is the problem a dry diff as the front of that diff looks like its been getting hot

End of the propshaft is left in the diff, which also appears to be leaking.

Here is the prop removed on the floor.

Still looks like theres an end cap stuck in there? The cup that the prop sits in doesn't look deep enough.

EDIT: The main bolt holding the diff together is covered. It's visible on mine.

Your right of course guys, there was an end piece in the diff, but not the one off the prop! clearly another prop fitted previously had left its cap behind,

the issue was though that forcing two caps in against each other had left the coupling out of shape and balance, the second pics shows the irregular shape of the removed cap end from been forced together.

Has it caused damage then Jeff, or did you just have to remove the offending item?

No damage thankfully, removed the unit and fitted a new one piece propshaft, the leak was due to a dodgy cooler pipe ove the top of the diff, quite how the end cap was not noticed is a mystery, the zed has had a lot of work done some years ago at a defunct 300zx garage in Leicester ( sticker on engine ) no idea if they did the prop though.
