Boost Problems/ EVC Problems?

Hi,

On my Z tuned up by Kakimoto Racing, I disconnected the battery and left it standing for three months+.

Started it back up and the turbos struggle to get over 0 on the Greddy boost gauge.

Would me disconnecting the battery affect the HKS EVC?

The turbos were boosting before the period of rest, I am sure of it.

Also the car was reported to overheat after coming to a standstill in traffic.

I have replaced the Rad cap, cleaned the temp sensors and after letting it idle for long periods of time have no instances of overheating.

Have yet to take it on a long drive, has anyone got any ideas?

Just wondering why this isn't appearing in todays list of active topics and testing if I need to reply to it to get it activated!

It Works!!

Problem could be a caching thing with either your browser (try the refresh button) or less likely your ISP.

No idea on the the EVC though ....

Hi Andy,

What is my Browser?

Internet Exploder (Explorer to you) I expect, or maybe Netscape or Opera or .... etc ...

Hello Mate,

Just on aol can I use any of that stuff wih aol and will it improve anything?

Mark,

IE (Internet Explorer) is the application you are using to view this site, so no it's nowt to do with AOL. Although doesn't AOL still use Netscape ???? Not sure myself.

Mark, I don't think the EVC is the problem, since most boostcontrollers can only control boost above safetyboost or the pressure that your wastegates are set to open at.

But check the settings of the EVC anyway.

If you're sure the turbos were working before, it could also be that one of the wastegates is stuck open or one of the turbos has seized (I hope not)

Let the car warm up by driving it slowly and once it has warmed up boot it a few times, sometimes this helps to work things loose.

AOL uses embedded IE but you can just dial in using AOL's connector then open up standard IE from the desktop.

Thanks so far,

Just a thought, the car has a set of HKS Dump valves on it, I don't know how much noise these particular valves are meant to make but they seem pretty quiet to me. If one of these had been compromised would this lead to boost only to zero?

Mark

if the dumpvalves would be leaking the car will barely idle and you would hear a wooshing sound as soon as boost starts to build.

Hi,

Took the car for a run and the boost returned! Flushed the rad took the car for a blast and there was only a slight sign of overheating. Needle above 9pm with the electric fan constantly running, left for 10 mins but it didn't get any hotter! Do you think it might need further flushing or the lowered water level would cause a rise in temp?

The heater matrix is leaking , it is running down near the ecu, and I don't know if it has anything to do with it but it is lumpy on idle and sometimes stalls.

There are also puffs of lingering white smoke from the UK's drivers side exhaust when the car is thrashed?

Cheers,

Mark

Mark mate, I had a heater matrix actually go on me. Get it sorted asap! wink.gif

Exploded whilst I was driving around the M25 in Winter and decided to really warm my feet up by pissing hot coolant all over them!

Thanks Everyone for the Help,

I think, I hope, that I have tracked down the problem!

Talked to Jeff TT last night and he said he had exactly the same problem. He replaced the oil and this time put in exactly 3.5 litres, Because the oil cooler doesn't drain of oil. Went down to Kwak fit told em to fil with exactly 3.5 litres. It still shows full on the dipstick and hey presto no smoking, thrashed it revved it when stationery, left it to idle and still all clear. Hope this isn't an intermittent fault and this is the end of it!!
