Hi Guys,

Not Zed related but somebody on here will have an answer.

Was looking to get the car remapped, probably using somebody like Celtic Tuning http://www.celtictuning.co.uk. They reckon car will go from 23bhp to 290bhp, also massive increase in torgue.

Whilst fishing around for prices, one Guy also does boxes which simply plug in. he reckons I will get a 30% increase in bhp in aggressive mode. it has 3 modes for torgue and 3 modes for bhp. http://www.energytuning.co.uk

Change cars you unplug the box and get it set for your new motor.

What do reckon???

Of course Im doing it for the fuel economy:wink:

I guess it's a typo 'They reckon car will go from 23bhp to 290bhp'

If not do they work on Zeds with that increase !

lol.. 232bhp...

Apparently they darent touch Zeds..

I take it this is an e60 530d?

I have heard 290bhp is possible. Haven't seen it first hand mind.

Evolve in Luton.

that just looks like an incredibly poor spelling of Evolution.

DMS Automotive. THey have branches across the UK.

They tuned my e60 535d a few years ago and it was absolutely phenomenal! Ended up with near enough 340bhp and masses of torque - faster than a e60 M5, I kid you not. DMS is probably the most expensive tuner out there but they wrote the book on diesel tuning and I highly recommend them.

Ill look them up cheers..

Im being quoted £250 for the plug in box but £300 - £350 for the remap. none of these are on a rolling road though..

i have had a dabble at tuning/remapping my self and on my cars

Stay clear of tuning box's ..........

on a gen 1or2 remap your gains are around 10>15% for petrol

and for deisel its around 30>60%

but remember this all depends on any mods on the car as well

Air Filter, Decat and Exhaust system is a must if you want to gain the max out of a remap

i had mine done by R-Tech in Hinkley and are all 100% Custom Remaps not generic ones

Celtic Tuning are very good but make sure you only pay around 150>250 as thats the going rate

Cheers Mate..

Ive not done anything else to the car as yet.

Its an e60. what air filters do you recommend? Im leaving the cats on as its my work car and cant be arsed struggling with it at mot time.

Currently looking at twin tail exhausts, think it will look much better...

just get a Piper-X or K&N Pannel Filter

not induction

as the cats you can get a sports exhaust system with sports cats fitted

for around £400 Stainless steel normaly

there are a few places like LongLife/Topgear that do custom built ones

to what sound/looks you want on them

Harby is it Petrol or Deisel .. ?

as Deisel cars dont need to have a Cat Fitted for MOT .. as its only a smoke test

its the diesel model 232bhp

cheers

PS missus ML has been remapped so just ordered the K&N filter for it...lol

when u fit the filter make sure you reset the ECU .. Unplug the batt for 30 mins ..

Has the ecu not got its own memory?

simply disconnect the postive from the battery and that will reset the ecu?

Why do you need to do that out of interest??

ECU goes into learning mode again... if you've got an auto, there's also a sequence you can follow to reset the g/box ecu - my 530d was quite sluggish and jerky when I got it, but a noticeable difference after resetting and thrashing it around a bit!

But from what PaulC posted the other day, it will need one in 2012 - i.e. if one was fitted as standard, it must be present...

Interesting..

do you remember where you got the sequence data from?

I find the gearbox jerky, just thought it was the style of car..

did you remap the 530d? what was it like? worth doing?
