Ignition key stuck

I cant get ignition key out, release button jammed. Any clues before I take it appart?

Is it an auto? If it is then from memory the auto shift lock stops the key being removed. Try waggling the gear shift park or moving it to neutral. If manual sorry can't help.

...remove the plastic covers behind the steering wheel and you'll find the mechanism that locks the key in place. There's a little metal protrusion that moves up and down controlled by an electric magnet. It (or whatever controlls it) packs up, so just wind an elastic band round things to hold this metal protrusion in its permanently open position (up). Dead simple. Then from here on in you won't have to place it in park before you can remove the key.
