my son and his lovely fiancé have been waiting to be parents for the last 9 months ,and for me and my wife to become grandparents, the pregnancy was flawless and so on Wednesday baby Maisie was delivered by emergency c section , the baby was distressed ,the cause being the cord twice round her little neck , this had reduced blood and oxygen supply and poor Maisie was born with no heart beat, she was revived by a fantastic medical team at the James cook hospital in Middlesbrough but it took 7 minutes to get a pulse, Maisie is now in intensive care where she has been for he last three days of this nightmare, her whole body has taken a massive hit, heart , kidneys , bowels etc are all failing and not responding to treatment, she was chilled on a specifically mat by 2.5 degrees to halt any further brain damage, last night she was christened at her bed in the icu which was extremely emotional . Today is the telling day , poor girl is exhausted from fighting to survive, we are all exhausted but being strong for my son and his brave fiancé , if you have a spare moment today please say a little prayer for Maisie Hope Nellis , sorry to off load on you all just had to tell someone

Oh Steve, I am so so sorry to hear this. If there is anything at all that we can do, please let me know. Even if its somewhere to bolt to from JCUH. We're literally 5 mins away in Marton.

Lots of prayers for you all, that she pulls through. The neonatal staff there are fantastic

J xx

In all honesty I can't/won't pray because I'd be a hipocrit if I did, but my deepest thoughts are with you and a tear is in my eye.

Luckily Michael was born without complications, but this brings to mind a very old girlfriend of mine from about 11 years ago, who was 3 months pregnant when I met her, she went into labour one day at 6.5 months into the pregnancy and the baby was born naturally 2.5 months early, at 2lb 2oz (A bag of sugar basically). She spent 4 months in the Neo Natal unit of Doncaster Royal Infirmary, no one thought she would live, everyone basically thought she would die, now she's an intelligent little 11 year old that looks just like her mum and the only long term issue that came from the troublesome birth, is that she has poor eyesight, but I'm told that hasn't stopped her from being a little maths genius :D

Miracles can happen and babies are stronger than they look, best of luck and wishes to you and your entire family, just hold in there :).

I'm sorry to hear this mate I can't even think what it must be like and my thoughts are with you all. I really hope she pulls through fighting.

Thoughts are with you and your family Steve, my close work colleague went through a similar hell last year and I was with him every step of the way, I remember how emotional that was and it wasn't even my family. I hope little Maisie pulls through :)

I'll agree - babies can be tough wee things, our first son came out blue, he was whisked away and the doctors and nurses wouldn't let us see him for a good half hour.

He spent weeks in the special care baby unit, only to contract meningitis and had a 50/50 chance of pulling through.

He's now a healthy 26 year old.......

Here's hoping that you have a similar outcome.

Steve, a sincere heartfelt sorry to hear this from myself, Lynda and Jamie, a real grounder in life for us all, best wishes to all of your family and hoping for the best of outcomes for you all.

I wish there was a "right" thing to say Steve, my prayers are with Maisie and all of you.

Remain strong through these difficult days, im sure she will pull through as said, babies are tough little buggers and you couldnt be in better hands by the sounds of it.

All the best and wishing your family all the strength to get through this.

Graham

I got a lump in my throat reading that. Doesn't matter who you are and how tough you might be, bring a baby into it and that all changes.

Good luck to baby, hope it all goes well.
