Urgent!! Power transistor/ignition amplifier

Hi all!

Please advise, are the two above parts one and the same?? I need to know before my local Nissan dealer rips me off for £300 for the amplifier and fitting(engine cutting out - see earlier post) whereas Courtesy quote $180 for the transistor....

TIA!!

Your Nissan dealer is giving you a good price - my local one wanted £340 !!

The good news is the Courtesy part is the corect one! LOL

Makes Nissan UK look like the joke they are smile.gif

P.S It'll take you all of 10 mins to fit with a screwdriver.

Thanks Chris! Anyone know how long Courtesy take to deliver??

Is there a technote on replacing the part or is at a 'read the f*cking manual' job?? smile.gif

I'm in Chester...why do you ask?

cos I have a new one sitting here that yo could have tried to make sure it was that.

Rob, I ordered mine at 1am on a sunday morning and it arrived at 9am on tuesday!

Quicker than Nissan UK FFS biggrin.gif

You will have to pay import tax though and it comes separate through the post a month or 2 later so don't think you got away with it. I think it was about £30 ish.

It is dead easy to fit. It's just behind the top radiator hose, bolted onto the front of the engine. Just take off one of the hard pipes, unscrew it and connect the new one in.

The new one will look different and has a cable adapter to connect it up.

These things were recalled everywhere else but the UK and replaced with an updated component as they are a known problem.

Any of you guys moved the PTU? Mine crabbed out a year ago..got a second hand one from Intapart off a late model ( upgraded PTU)..remounted it near battery. existing loom fits great. Did temp check,.,,runs way cooler there and had no probs ( touch wood) thus far. Just curious as some people move em.
