I've been given an estimate of £2,220 for my full respray. The bloke came over today and had a good look at the car and took lots of pics. The work they will be carrying out includes;

Picking my zed up and dropping it back off (about 20mile roundtrip)

2pak paint, high build primer.

Fix a large dent on the pass side rear qtr.

Spray and install my 99spec spoiler.

A little bit of welding on the sills (not rust related)

They will be removing the bonnet, targas, front and rear bumpers, nose panel, doors and tailgate and spraying off car plus they will be doing the shut lines.

The colour will be changing from GL1 black to KH3 black.

I've done the majority of the prep and although it's OK, they will be giving it all a check over and redoing any bits not quite up to standard. The price given covers this, so it may actually be less than the estimate.

When done they will put the car back together and machine polish it all over, then deliver back to me.

So Is this a decent price for all this work? I know what I think but thought I would ask for all your opinions.

forgot to say, they will be smoothing the stone chip as well.

sounds good to me.

there is a vast difference in labor required between a quick blowover and a proper job which this sounds like

what colour blacks are those, my car has gone from metallic to solid

you can spend alot more than 2.2k on a paint job but this should be good

Thats a good price

Both blacks are Nissan ones mate, GL1 was the original solid black but it was replaced with KH3 solid black which is a slightly different shade.

The body shop that will be doing it are a professional outfit and they will be doing a proper job.

Price sounds fair to me, and seems like they are doing it properly.

it sounds a fair price to me for the labour involved . if you get it done right it will look good for years , get it done cheap and it wont last five minutes . i learnt this lesson . good luck with it and looking forward to seeing some nice pics

To be honest mate, it sounds on the cheap side for a top job. Saying that, just cos someone is expensive, doesn't mean they're any good.

Any chance you can look at some of their work? How fussy are they and how much money do they want up front?

Trust me, thanks to shit bodyshops, I haven't driven my Z for nearly 5 years :( so make sure they can do what they say ;)

Just had a full colour change on the wifes SLK that came in at £900 and its got a metal flake finish from house of kolor, quoted £1250 for the zed. Must just be that the labour rates are cheaper up north, but its only when you see it finished that you no whether the job is worthy of the price you have paid.

Ive heard and seen some very good jobs come out of the place that Zedworld use or used to before they moved??

Wise words by Paul there!!! It's rare to find people who can do what they say and have pride in their work. There's only one place I'd go to now for my paintwork, can't say they're the only ones who can do a quality job but they're the only ones I've ever met!!

Vijay

It would be great to know how you find their work...I am only in the next county and want to get mine resprayed next year and I'm looking for a trusted paint shop.

Thanks for all the advice, I thought it was a good one too :) Especially since the price includes fixing a mahooosive dent in the rear qtr panel....

The place I'm using is a professional bodyshop with a chain of workshops, they do a lot of insurance work and do come across as a proper setup that cares about the work they do.

If people want to check them out the are called Gladwins, web site is http://www.gladwins.com/ (Fingers crossed that they're not all over the net as shite. lol)

ZXTT: No problem mate, I'll let you know and get some pics up when I get it back :) May take some time as I told them that I'm not in any hurry to get it done, as I could do with a break. lol

Sounds fair to me aswell. I have had 2 prices in the last 6 months, from £2-£2.500 this includes me removing all the trim/rubbers/front & lights etc.

Sounds like a fair price TBH only thing I would definately suggest is getting all the windows removed if they are not out the car already.
