So i was looking at these http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3250089.htm

Then because of the roads i live on i was thinking one of these http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2884709.htm

Sorry to hear you are thinking of selling up mate, your zed is a credit to you and one of my fave's in the club, although i must agree the Monaro is one hell of a motor with a very nice spec !

good luck in what you decide mate although i hope you stay with us ;)

Yeah thats what i was thinking. proper head screw up but is new vs old :2guns:

You know you wont be able to let her go, youve put too much much time and money into her, now sell your other toys for a sensible ride and keep the zed:wink:

:yes::yes::yes:

After a fair bit of thinking over the weekend i've decided i'm breaking and selling off the V8 + shell and all the parts off the TT.

After driving one last night i'm looking at a 2003- Jag XKR Coupe - about the £10,000 mark for a 400bhp monster that drives as smooth as silk.

Pistonheads have a nice silver one with the recaro black leather seats in for £9,995

Its a wide up Dave:huh: if you were serious you would have put this in genral z section not non z related:yes:

Funny that you've chosen two cars with possibly THE worst real-world fuel economy. Those (nearly) 2 ton Monaros with a 5.7 engine are going to average low 20's and possibly single figures when you really hammer it. The evo likewise. I know consumption isn't the only thing to consider, but it'll be by far the biggest cost after purchasing the car.

I can't knock either of them, I can see the appeal in both. I think the Evo would offer the best grin factor and the most entertaining chassis, but the Manaro is a big, effortless cruiser. Personally, when I sell my Zed (if I ever do), I'm gonna go for a Caterham or Elise. If you've ever driven either you'll know what I mean. Both are happy on the road or track, the Elise obviously being the most civilised. THey're fecking quick to, I was having a tussle with one on a recent track day. Depends what you want from the car, but the Evo will definitely offer something different, not sure if the Monaro would really do anything better than the Zed (apart from be more reliable perhaps?).

I'd recommend trying something new, life's too short - you can always get another Zed. Sod the money aspect - you're not a car dealer, everybody looses money on cars, ask anyone who's ever bought a new car and suffered 30% depreciation in the first year :death:

Yeah thats what i was thinking. i sold the gsi a while back now because im sick to death of fixing 3 cars every 5min hence why thinking new

Gotta say the Evo looks no where near a 15k car

Yeah about 3/5k to much but it is a minter

Yeah was looking at these. there nice but are they to old for me. manuals are hard to come by and the walnut dash is awfull and would need spraying black.

But if i got a new car i want it to be right from the off. so all i have to do is drive and wash the thing

Cheers for the help mate. The evo and monaro 6l one are about 20mpg. in the zed on these roads im only getting 9mpg so that isnt a problem lol!!

I prefer the looks of the monaro but around here like the zed its a fish out of water so i was thinking of the evo.

If i could get a 99 spec zed type r i would have that lol!!

MODS: I think Car.Mad's account has been hacked by a chinaman :chinese:

Can't believe he would be thinking of getting shot

Don't do it Dave, you will regret it mate :thumbup1:

oh, its a tricky one eh.

In reality, i would get rid of the zed and replace with something newer. I had my eyes on a 911.

However, the biggest pain is reaching 'the point of no return'. So much time and money spent that you would never get a fraction of it back. The only option is to break it - how horrible would that be??

Car modifying is a big waste of money, but we all need a hobby. I just wished i started with a mini. :)

So yeah, its a tricky one.

I don't think you fancy one anyway, but manuals don't exist! Autos only! Also, there was an option to have the walnut burr nearly black from the factory which looked really nice. I had a race with one the other day - my Zed wasn't gaining on him, put it that way  Great looking motors.

sorry to hear your thinking of selling up Dave :( Hope you change your mind, your car is a great example.

I wouldn't buy the Monaro personally, really not a fan of them at all and I wouldn't spend more than 6 or 7k on a Evo.

if it was my money then it would prob go on an M5 or a 993.

If i could get a 99 spec zed type r i would have that lol!!

or this. Is'nt Sudesh's still available ?

Edited by Yowser

I've been through this before several times, before and since the Z. Since the Z however I have the upper hand, because I remember when I bought this:

Ford-Falcon-XR6.jpg

and then regretted it. My decision was purely based on the fact it was new(ish) and therefore more reliable (which it was), whilst also being fun (it wasn't). It was an auto/tiptronic, 4.0 V6, now you'd think that'd be cool right? Fast right? You'd be totally wrong! I've also driven a monaro in NZ, amongst other Holdens as well and they weren't as nice to drive as the Ford was.

As for the EVO, I've never actually had an EVO beat one of my cars, except the Ford, lol.

You're a difficult one to advise, because a year ago when I joined this forum you were pissed off with the Z then, a month or so ago I saw you say you hadn't driven it in 3 years? Try driving it, go pick a route, a big long one, fill the car up and go for a drive before the snow comes, then as someone else said, sell the other stuff you have a buy a Hilux for the winter/reliability.

Manuals are very hard to come by as they never made one :D (apart from the xkr-r (which they never released)

Plus tbh i would pull all the wood out and get it painted piano black anyway :)

I do like the m5's but if i was spending this type of money i would want somthing that stands out, I also think our cars are much!! better looking than the porker lol!!!

Yeah his is for sale but its the types and i would want the full fat one lol!!!

Do you want salt and viniger

Could you not keep the tucked away, and buy something newer to use that was slightly cheaper?

Problem with having expensive cars, there are expensive to fix, and you dont want to abuse them as much = less fun.

Had to laugh when I saw this!

My mate 'clipped' a curb whilst drifting his M3. It's just burnt a 2.5k sized hole in his pocket to get it all repaired, ouch. For 2.5k you could replace an entire Zed!

How much were you expecting the Zed to contribute to the new car fund if you don't mind me asking? About half??

But what to get??
