MAP sensor fitting?

MAP sensor fitting

I've done a quick search but can't find too much info on it

I understand that you can do away with the MAF if you go down the MAP sensor route but what does fitting a MAP sensor actually entail?

Featured Replies

MAP sensor plugged into a vac line and a different ECU or a converter, then remap

Ok I guess you know what it means so you will find some sensors are screw in type so there is potential to use the holes on the side of the plenum that are already there for the pvrv vac line so you can delete that and fit there that is my plan anyway have a look at the aem map sensor and let me know if it can be done

The fit is really easy, it's exactly the same as the sensor for a boost controller

Ok, well this is what I've got

Like I said before, the series 1 should be fine for what I've got planned

The AEM part is a 3.5 bar MAP sensor with a screw thread

the other one was supposed to be an AEM part (though there are no AEM markings on it) it's a 5 bar MAP sensor.

I'm assuming the 3.5 should be fine?

with regards to the AEM Lambda/Uego sensors, I assume that they just replace the current sensors mounted on the downpipes?

yep as i thought map sensor is a screw thread its not like a boost sensor should be able to use the PVRV hole as i said

I'll have to take a look at the zed user manual to find out where the PVRV hole is, that way I can fit it all up at Greg's

Can't see yer pics due to work firewall, but yes 3.5 is more than enough.

Uego sensors to be a 100% accurate should be in the manifold, this is not easy and can be fatal if one falls apart, so as close to after the turbo's then, existing holes yes.

Does anybody have a pic showing where exactly the PVRV hole is?

pass side of plenum towards the back mate, it will have a an adapter plugged into it that drops the size down to 4mm vac line.

Where does the MAP sensor get wired into? I've connected the sensor to the supplied cable but there are 3 bare end wires (Ground/5v and Signal) that obviously go somewhere, I assume these need to plug into the EMS somehow??
