Engines out, now what?

Eventually I've managed to get the engine out of the LWB zed, without the benefit of an engine hoist and with every nut and bolt seemingly taking the p**s, it wasn't the easiest job that I've carried out on the old girl, but hey it's done now....all I can say is thank God for creatine!

*The internals are forged carrillo and Arias parts thank God*

the hardest part was carrying the bloody thing on my tod through the house and garage without dripping oil everywhere

anyway, it's currently up on the work bench but I'm planning on putting it onto the engine stand in the next day or so, which would give me some spare work space to strip the rest of the engine; the downpipes are still attached to the turbos and two of the nuts have rounded off so that's more fun to be had....

any suggestions as to where the mounting points are on the block?

I'm assuming that large bolts are required to mount it in place?

here's a pic of my engine stand

I'll cover the new 'Z1 clutch and lightened flywheel' issue later

it should line up with the holes for where the bell housing bolts to then its just a case of nuts and bolts

thats some nice internals you got there. What is Arias though never heard of them?

Yeah they're JE Arias oversized pistons mate, not sure where they are from, I assume the US as I think the Carrillo con rods came from Z1.

Have you fitted that one piece prop yet Marty?

yeah my one piece is on. Never heard of Arias so be interested in performance however Carrillo are the best available :)

So does the one piece make a difference, worth the money?

I've already started the strip down in the workshop, it's amazing how much easier it is to strip parts when they aren't fitted to the car.

for example, I've just undone the last 4 bolts on the pair of down pipes, I'd been trying for bloody hours to get to them whilst they were on the car and ended up giving up in the end, once off the car.....2 minutes!!

are you still this side of the water?

Nah ive gone now man. The prop and all my drivetrain feels alot better however it wasnt just the prop i changed there was a whole load of drivetrain and suspension bits adding to a very torquey NA will have to see what sort of 1/4 mile times i can put down. I do however need a new box at some point as there is noise from the mainshaft bearings that i dont like. No problems getting gears but its just something i will change with the engine.
