Hi Guys, can someone explain why some clocks sell for £100+ and others for £20/£30, i suppose its JDM v UK, but why and what is the difference, can you tell visually?

Thanks

Yes, UK vs Jap.

UK clocks are in MPH (with kph on the inside circle) and boost and oil pressure gauges in psi.

Jap Clocks are in KPH with pressure gauges in mmHGx100

UK clocks are also visually better looking IMO , with more detailing (from the combined mph & kph speedo) .

Most Jap owners want to convert there KPH to MPH, and by far the best way to do this is with a set of UK clocks as aftermarket mph>kph converters are unreliable and have a improper affect on other systems like Power steering.

So basically with about 85%+ of Z's in the UK being Imports it makes UK clocks a rare sought after upgrade and Jap clocks ten a penny.

What do you do with the milometer when you swap the clocks ? Obviously this will make your milage wrong.

I would think that you would record the figure at which it changed and state that up to XXX on the clock it was Km, after that its miles.

i think...

The odometer can be changed to the correct mileage in miles, but you must make a new buyer aware when you come to sell the car, if you are keeping it forever then it doesnt matter. The figures will be logged at dvla anyway when you take it for a new mot.

Jap Clocks are in KMH with pressure gauges in mmHGx100

Mine oil pressur gauge reads in KG/CM3 which means sweet FA to me (the same as the Jap clocks in the photo infact).

Also - my zed was from the pound-stretcher production line, so has no digital climate control, plush upholstery, or boost gauge. I really wanted my car to have a boost gauge :crying: If I were to fit UK clocks would my harness have a plug for the stock boost gauge? AND, would I then be able to remove the KMH to MPH converter and the associated electrical gremlins?
