Installing HKSEVC4 boost controller

I had a look at doing this but was slightly flabbergasted smile.gif .. is it the sort of job that can fook ones engine if done incorrectly?

I have been quoted £200 to have the job done by Abbey Motorsport, plus the £100 for the round trip.. seems like I should have a go eh?

I was gonna sell it but I might as well plumb the bugger in really. smile.gif

Another think I was worried about was fuelling.. am I right in thinking that I can be conservative with boost settings and not actually have a new ECU for fuelling?

Do I need a remapped ECU installed to actually use an extra couple of PSI that the EVC can give - I am currently only getting 7psi and cannot locate the reason for S/B so was gonna use the boost controller to up it.

I have induction and Exhaust, its stock other than that, I could run upto 12-14psi with that setup and stock ECU couldnt I?

Thanks for any help smile.gif

I wouldn't set it higher then 11 psi on a stock ECU.

On cold days you might be able to set it at 12/13psi

Glen, I'm running an HKS EVC4 at 1 bar on stock ECU. The unit was installed about 2 years ago. I havn't had any problems so far. At the time I came across this thread on TT.net regarding HKS's own findings on the stock ECU and boost levels:

www.twinturbo.net/cgi-bin/ttnet_viewmsg.pl?forum=main&msg_id=23596

or

Needless to say I'd be interested to know if this is not the case!

OK this is one for the techys out there. If you have fitted upgraded turbos, 555inj, JWT ECU, exhaust and an EVC4. What is the best way to get the performance to its limit, guess on EVC Boost settigns or go to a dyno/rolling road for the car to be tuned and the EVC boost settings to be decided? After fitting the EVC I set the switch to PO by mistake and the boost climbed to 1.53bar and pinked, now that it is set to SW I have set the boost to 7psi low, 16psi high and 17psi scramble just to make sure the engine is safe. But can I lift the high setting any higher, safely?
