Hi guys. I've fitted a new turbo kit but unfortunately it's designed for the US market and the oil feed lines do not allow for the stock oil pressure sender in the stock location. On US cars I believe it's fitted to the oil filter tree but having just slotted my engine back in it's pretty obvious that the steering rack gets in the way for RHD cars :-(. I've had to remove the sender again to get the engine in.

I don't really want to fit an aftermarket gauge or sender, ideally I'd like some kind of adapter that would allow me to fit it back onto the LHS turbo oil feed where it comes out of the block, a banjo union with an additional 1/8 NPT take off would be ideal. Does anything like this exist?? If not any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

RobH

It does go in matey, done this loads of times.unscrew the blank plug and in she will go,the wiring plug is tight but it does go(youll need to extend the wiring of course) .

Hmm..Jimmer are you using a 90 degree elbow or screwing it straight into the oil filter tree? Without the elbow (pointing down) I have problems with clearing the RH turbo oil return line, with the elbow it interferes with the (metal) pipework for the steering rack.

Just to confirm, you're referring to the hex bolt type blanking plug on the side of the filter tree rather than the allen bolt type plug at the rear (gearbox side) of the tree?

I'd also like a confirmation on where it can go back in. Fitted a braided oil feed line a while ago that doesn't allow for the sender.

if you look here all is explained. The sender should be screwed straight into where the blank plug was on the filter tree.it does fit,ive done it.if you look at the pics youll make out the sender.http://www.z1motorsports.com/imageGallery/main.php?g2_itemId=79592

This picture shows the blank in question better, stolen from elswhere on the forum so ignore labels!

Yeah, unfortunately the hardware that Z1 supplied with their kit doesn't leave enough room to fit the sender directly into this location. I've fitted a 90 deg elbow and ended up with the sender perilously close to the RHS turbine housing, I'm sure it won't last long here but at least I can check the pressure at startup, I'll get an aftermarket solution if necessary :-\

Hi there mate,

Sorry for the hi-jack, I'm going to be fitting Z1 GT525's, am I going to have this drama too?

LOL - possibly, but at least you know some other folks have done it. I would do it slightly differently if I did it again. You may find your kit allows you to screw it straight in as suggested by Jimmer. I got the GT675RS kit, the oil return pipe on the driver's side is a little short, making options a little limited around the oil filter tree.

Far more of a concern is the fact that the Z1 5 bolt dump pipes don't fit with the steering connected. Maybe locate some pipes designed for the UK market to save any issues. I've been stuck on this for a week now and haven't yet resorted to 'modifications' with a hammer or tig welder...

Jim managed to fit 'em on mine! So I would have thought it will be possible on yours too.

Another hijack

Where is the best place to get the flexible oil lines or can I use the existing stock ones also do you know if it needs the banjo with the restrictors I'm using jwt sports 650 tubs rebuilt with 360 degree thrusts so I'm assuming they need stock design oil flow not restricted like ball bearing tubs ?? Hi Rich.

My lines came with the kit from Z1motorsport but they do sell them seperately I think. The restrictors are fitted to the turbos and the lines then fitted to the restrictors. Stock restrictors (K bolt on the LHS and weird shaped connector on the RHS) are deleted.

Best to get professional advice from the folks who rebuilt your turbos or the manufacturer regarding the amount of restriction required I would think.

Cheers
