How do you remove the window from the door?

 

Also, on the new door that I have fitted, the door can open and lock using the handle inside, however when you put the key into the barrel of the door it is jammed and will not turn. Is this a broken barrel?

get the trim off and have a look, will hopefully be the two bars inside catching.

 

The other thing to look at is the connector at the back of the barrel. can be made of plastic and crack. you turn the key but of course nothing happens.

 

I think you have to buy the whole barrel to get the plastic clip so may need to be inventive..

Undo the 2 bolts on the bottom of the window rail and it will pull up, slight angle needed.

The door lock barrel, has a plastic retainer on the rod, which tend to break or snap over time, so you should be able to replace just the plastic part.

i had the same problem with the lock on mine, when i took the door card off i found that the yellow plastic bit from the back of the barrel which connects on to the link rod had snapped cost me £10 to fix. not a bad job to do took me 20 min or so, also if the lock dosnt turn is it the right key for that lock ??? new door diffrent lock ????? good luck keep us updated gareth

where did you Guys get the plastic clip from?

 

Nissan couldnt find the part and jap parts wanted me to buy the whole lock....

 

I had to make something......

dont be convinced that it is definately the plastic clip.. if the car has had remote locking then the door locks never get used - meaning that over time they can seize up. If you find no problem behind the lock (rods,clip etc) then it'll be a case of removing the handle then seperating the barrel, stripping it down, clean up all the bits and rebuilding.

 

Done it a few times now and works a treat :)
