hi m8 mobil 1s a good oil i use the rs stuff not much difference between the two i think you will be doing the right thing by putting any one of these two in your car

Personally, I use Mazola (pure corn oil)!! biggrin.gif

although many people swear by mobil 1, its benefits are really hard to justify for its cost!! im in the motor trade & we mainly use mobil super (semi synthetic). much better value for money, esp as most people do regualr oil changes, the oils not gonna degrade that much. but if you want to waste your money.........!

Mobil 1 is a bit thin (0-40)for a z engine with many miles on the clock. Ok if starting with a new engine.

Generally a 10-40/50/60 is recomended. If not then a 5-40/50/60.

A few guys use castrol magnatec. I use whatever is a good deal at the time but always fully synth ( e.g Texaco havoline/esso ultron/ BP super 7000 etc). Semi synth is also fine .

Just change that oil every 3000 miles!! That is more important than brand of oil. (don't forgrt filter too!)

Millers 10/60 Fully Synth

I use Halfords own Fully Synthetic 5-40.

It's just come down in price too, I think it was £17 for 5 ltrs! Compare that to Mobil 1! You can change it twice as often if you felt so inclined wink.gif

They both hold the latest API rating too (SJ), so that is a standard of quality.

Castrol RS 10/60,I swear by it.

Redline 10/30 F/S changed more often than me socks.

Expensive tho, but not as expensive as an engine rebuild smile.gif

I use Castrol GTS Magnatec it has a 10w 50 rating,is semi synthetic and change every 3000miles.Reason i went for this is because i do use the car for quite a few short runs here and there and i was told by a engine builder that this offers the best protection for short journeys where the engine doesn't get warmed up properly.

I also put an oil additive friction reducer in there too, don't know why, peace of mind i guess!!! probably cos i just had a rebuild and i'm now skint!!!

Castrol RS full synthetic 0-40. Car gets thousands of miles before it needs even a top up.

According to Nissan records for the car it always had semi synthetics till I got it. Engine seems sound enough on it.

Mobil 1 Motorsport and I change my oil every 3-4K. Bit pricey but the extra thickness has stopped any smoke I once had.

I found this little nugget if you're interested.
