........I turn the volume up:confused1: if I turn the volume past 24 turns itself off then power comes back on but if I do not lower volume will switch itself straight back off etc etc.

Any thoughts on this!

On the plus side when i got my car back the central locking never worked with the alarm fob, but after taken off door panel I found that all it was...was the little clamp came loose that clamps onto the bar controlling the central locking:dance:

Bigdavezx if you are reading this do you still have the 2nd alarm fob???

Sounds more like a dodgy earth mate, check all the connections, and if they are fine, then i would say the cd player is faulty

Could also be crossed speaker wires, many stereos will still run with crossed wires, until you're putting too much power through them, then they automatically turn off to make sure you don't blow out the amp.

The player is new and I do believe mr Jeff TT fitted these earlier this year!

How would you check if the wires are crossed?

defo an earthing issue, mine used to turn its self off when i turned the volume up, soon as i used a separate earth off the earth wire to the chassis it sorted its self out.

Basically crossed wires will normally just be at the connection points, i.e. back of the stereo or on the speakers themselves, although I have known speaker wires be "pulled" through the car and get the insulation stripped, then they end up touching the chassis and well.... the rest is obvious. I'd check the earth first as others have suggested, this is the easiest thing to change and therefore rule out or prove the theory, then check the connections on the stereo and speakers if still a problem, after that, you're pulling your interior out and checking the insulation on the cables.

I started my working life as an electrical installation engineer, and it's no rare thing for a cable to be "pulled" and get the insulation stripped :D

well i know mine pulses and cuts out music if its too loud, but i think thats just where it tries pulling too much power.

check your power Leads or even do i direct feed ..

all so check your Earth .. or try doing a new one see what happens

That's a bad earth as well.

first port of call on anything like this, would be the earth wire. once you have a direct feed from the main earth on the Unit to the chassis and your still experiencing problems, then start checking else where, but for now, first port off call as i said, should be earthing the unit properly.

especially with a zed, first thing you do when wiring up the stereo, is get the main earth wire coming from the back of the unit, and wire that directly to the screw on the chassis behind the stereo, forget about using the earth on the 300zx stereo ISO connector as its pants.

If you don't earth it to the body of the car you get all sorts of drama.
