would a vg30de fit in an opel manta?

I've been thinking about what to do with my NA engine when I drop the new engine in. I had a manta coupe about 10 years ago and would love another.

So, anybody any ideas if this is possible?

anythings posible with money any som creative smarts m8

id like to see this always loved the manta's

Me dad had one of those a gte in white, bloody thing sunroof leaked and boot leaked badly so bad mushrooms grew in the boot carpet! but he liked it!

hmm lol, could be worse! he showing his age now hes got s triumph stag good conversation everytime i ring him "you broken down this week?", anyway back to the post i bet it is possible about same length and i think there was quite alot of room for the gearbox to my memories would be a first and i think someone who has the insperation to do a project like this would receive alot of credit, and knowing your 800kg stripped shell manta with over 200bhp would be quick!

christ a vg in a manta loads of credit big project to take on but a great block into a great retro car

youd have to have a solid chassis set up to handle it as well as loads of bracing to stop it twisting

umm a spare engine to play with!!!!! how about a sirrera? a reto bmw. an old cortina or carpia or something a bit different a small 4x4 suzuki vitara/sj for example. I like sleeper type cars as they can be lots of fun!

but yes any engine will go in any car with enough time and money

there where z31s produced with this from factory....apprantly.... but yeh as said anything is possible.

Yeah, I reckon there is plenty room for the box. The bay is plenty long enough but it's the width that could be a bother. If I remember right, the manta has fairly chunky inner wings. It's been so long since I've had one.

I was looking around the classifieds. They ain't cheap. You can get hold of a Capri easily for under 1k but the manta seems to be a tad pricier, not to mention rarer. I'm pretty sure I'll give it a try, as soon as I've got the zed finished. Maybe a project for next summer.

My old manta had an xe red top and it was plenty fast. I reckon the NA vg will be plenty, and less hassle

Lol, yeah the name is a bit of a giveaway.

Sounds like a neat transplant , there,s certainly enough room in the engine bay but might need the tranmission tunnel modding , I,m a big fan of Mantas , i,ve had 4 of them :punk:

i suppose if you have the engine and box then fine, but seem's a lot of work for just 200bhp, now if your talking tt power then that would be fun

Nah, I'm not really doing it for the power. The zed will have plenty of that. I just fancy another manta and 230bhp ish will be more than enough I reckon. Remember they weigh about 5kg

Manta....wow. My second car was a Manta but never got to drive it much.

I've actually been thinking recently if a Modern engine such as the Zeds would go in an old yank car like a '77 Trans Am or something. Not really for the power but for the smoothness, reliability and general ride.

Open Kadet or Chevette at TOTB with what I think was a 2.2 turbo in it with the rat look, went well!!!!

A freind of mine is building a Ford Anglia with a ZX TT in it!!!

I will dig a picture out.
