Been under the bonnet this afternoon with matt the guy who has silver streak [to check on his wiring problem] and noticed the pipes in the attached pictures blanked off, and they aren't on silver streak !

Can any one enlighten me on this?

Had this car since 2003 [briefly sold it 2010] but never noticed this before.

AIV = Air Idle Valve....

Alz.

Is it for emissions ?? why is it on the car if you can just blank it off!!

Aiv I thought was air injection valve. It is a pump in each wing which injects air in to the exhaust system to lower emissions.

correct and not really needed so usually junked..it`s the things that can gurgle in the wings when the valves get water in em, the pipes join the exhaust around the cat area.
