sensors on exhuast

quick question what are the 2 sensors that come out of the downpipes? (not the 02 sensors on the elbows)

 

just noticed them in the current decats? but the new set will have no holes? are they important? what do they do?

 

my last powerflow had them as well really confused me?

    cat temp sensors, you can safely cut the cable, cover the wire and then put it out the way
