Hi has anyone had any problems loading a MAP on to a AEM ecu?

I can link up with the ECU but im unable to transfer data..Any ideas? Im hoping its the USB converter thats not up to scratch but if it was i wouldnt of thought the ECU would still link to my laptop?

Here what it reads on the screen when i try to send the MAP to the ECU

Thanks Dan

Hi mate thanks for your reply. Yea I did select serial. It seems to link with the ECU ok and displays online. But just won't transfer the data over.

Hi Bud

You need to use an old skool laptop and an oldskool cable that does not use a convertor, I have a laptop that works perfectly on it as I bought it to use just with the AEM thingy. When you sort that it will work.

The convertors on later versions of windows etc do not seem to work I had the exact same problem. I sold my AEM but still have the lappy will sell it to you for like £100 if you want it only used it once?. I bought it brand new about 6 months back it was the only one i could find anywhere that ran win 95 still and had a serial port. AEM software already set up on it and it will connect and work first time. I spent weeks dicking around trying to get something to work with no luck using different cables, operating systems etc.

Hi mate thanks for letting me know. I have simular problems when programming the fire alarm panels for work. Ive got an old laptop but if i remember right it crashes every 5 mins. Ill give it ago with mine first and if i have no joy ill have that off you :). Its looking like there is light at the end of the tunnel now lol. Cheers Dan

Ok bud cool you could borrow it no probs also, thing is i keep lending stuff and its a right PITA to ever get it back and I end up shelling for postage all the time as well.

I've used my old lappy with serial port and win xp pro no issues then I've upgraded my lappy and been resistant to using USB to serial but I've installed a converter running vista No problems either as long as u instal correct driver for converter it should be fine check in device manager to make sure :)
