I lurk around the Z32 websites smugly thinking how lucky I am that my Z has never let me down. Saturday, the Sun's out I think, tops off and away I go. No such luck, I turn the key and - nothing. It transpires that my 6 month old battery is down to 8 volts (don't know why, I didn't leave anything switched on). The battery charger won't touch it so I jump start it and go for a blast thinking it'll charge up ok, the voltmeter showing a healthy 14 volts. I drove about twenty miles or so and stopped for refreshments. I return to the car turn the key and - nothing. I had to call a friend to come out and jump start me. whether it's associated or not I don't know but on the way home the abs light came on.

That'll teach me to be so smug....

I didn't even consider fuses! Is it likely since I could jump start the car with another battery?

I appreciate the help. Thx.

The fuses are a pain in the backside....

...I changed my battery, Done some wiring but missed the obvious...The fuses...

..My Car ran perfect with the new battery for about 15 miles then same as you I got out to get some drinks and came back 2 minutes later tried to start the car and it started, misfired twice, the ABS light came on and the revs died....got towed home and charged my battery, checked over my wiring and noticed that the wire running to my alterantor was nice and green! it should have been copper....So I cut it back, Cleaned it, soldered it and re-attached it, that's when I thought I would check the fuses...Changed 2 10amp fuses that were blown and a big grey fuse (Don't ask what it was I ain't got a clue!) but it cost me £29 from nissan...and only they done them around here, Plugged in the fuse and no bother since...I would checked your wiring to for the nice green stuff....

Hope my dodgy home wiring and problem solving works for you!!

:o)
