As I recently changed my seats to leather, I wanted the armrest to match.

As a SWB armrest in leather seem hard to find, I plumped for chancing a LWB one and making it fit (they are about 20mm longer).

As luck would have it, Mackam Maz had a LWB one up for sale in good condition and at a nice price, so I thought I would see what I could do ...

Thankfully, for once, Mr Nissan kindly didn't redesign the whole part !

After disassembling we find all we need to do is a bit of hacksaw action and we can fit the LWB top section onto the SWB base with very little problem :)

Peel back the leather and mark it up:

Cut it off:

Trim the leather:

Tuck it all back in with a bit of adhesive, and punch through the hinge screw holes (as they are virgin holes, it helps to screw in the ... err ... screw to tap out the plastic while its easy access ;)):

All done ready for re-fitting (looking better than the cloth even now!):

Fantastic mod matey, well done........ sticky me thinks.....lol.

Alz.

Looks like a nice fit bud

There are a few parts that are different between the SWB and the LWB that you perhaps wouldn't expect

one of which is the fuel cover/door, I was told that they were both the same but when I tried fitting the cover off my LWB onto the SWB on the weekend they are completely different

Yep, they do like to change things around a bit ! Some had told me that they were different, and others thought they weren't. So when that one came for sale I asked for measurements to confirm.

For once something that wasn't hard to adapt :)

Ok, I know it isn't rocket science, but maybe someone else will be in the same situation, at least they know its not hard to do now ;)

Nice one, good idea.

Well you learn something new every day here I thought the armrests were all the same length. Nice one mate.

yeh the console itself is all the same, but because the part behind on a swb would interfere with the opening of a lwb armrest, the armrest is shorter and with hinge changes, so it opens differently too.

Just been out to check this one, and yeh, Im very suprised on that, they are different.

The LWB one is longer and wider, and even the hinge bracket itself is deeper.

Yeah I discovered this ages ago to my annoyance when I fitted my S2 interior from a LWB into a SWB. However having sold the LWB armrest i'm still snookered!
