Had a strange noise started a few days ago , didn,t do it when cold but got worse the warmer the car got , had a look at it today and it,s the water pump , removed the belt and it feels smooth with virtually no play in it and no leaks and is pumping well , start the warm engine and no noise , put the belt back on and the rattles there , very strange :crying::crying:

Oh well i,d best start stripping it down :crying::crying:

I think the expression you're looking for is - '80LL0X'

Gutted bud, its not long since you got everything back together and on the road either. But, on a positive note - it will only take half the time to do the job, now you're a spanner veteran!

Ouch, what a pain in the ass lol, crap design really that you need to get the bottom timing cover off to get to the one bolt hidden by it.

Although with the engine out when you had it i would have replaced it as a matter of course lol.

My engine is coming out for all the mods and I have been advised with a new timing belt going on to replace the water pump.

I have one OEM only bought on Friday from the Zcentre - £68.00

I did the old long screwdriver to the ear method and it,s deffo the pump bud , i wouldn,t have minded it being the alternator as i,ve got a spare and it,s easy to change ! lol.

Luckily i,ve got alot less to strip off wth the stuff i,ve moved or done away with :thumbup1:
