hi guys, hopefully picking up my 300zx this week, i'm still undecided about going for it yet though, it's an import twin turbo with an autobox, i've read mixed reviews on the autoboxes, any opinions???

just took out this 300 for a wee test drive, very very impressed, just smoooooth relentless power, no nasty noises or smoke, the thing felt just awesome, and i was quite impressed with the autobox too, sooooo... picking it up tomorrow night once i sort out insurance on it :D

also, was very surprised by the amount of power, i know the auto are meant to be limited to 279bhp, which is about the same as my mr2, but this thing would easily outrun my mr2!!!

Sounds like you have been well and truly bitten by the zed bug lol

Happy zedding mate and take it easy till you get used it

deffo mate!!! i cannot believe the amount of torque the thing has!!! it surely can't only be 279bhp???? my mr2 easily has that power and this thing would seriously blow it away!!! it has twin air filters and some exhaust, dunno if anything else is modified though :tt1:

oh, just for reference, the insurance is an extra £87, so £287 altogether :D :D

Hi Sheppy, good luck with the purchase mate, just a quicky on the auto box... they are very solid and reliable but dont forget most will be 15+ years old, and as soon as you start upping the power it will probably start giving problems, trust me I know, lol, I`ve had 3 auto boxes in the last 8 years(not bad I suppose) and now gone for a manual in my TT, but my vert still has the auto and I love it and not 1 bit of trouble at all!!! so as the lads say, its pot luck if you get a good one but if you look after it, then you should have no problems, and if it does let go, there are plenty of 2nd hand one`s for sale on here and on e-bay

Happy zedding bud

after driving it i seriously doubt i will be upping the power :) i had in my head it was gonna feel heavy and sluggish in comparison with the mr2, and it really just doesn't feel like that at all!!!! i'm totally speechless with the way the thing shifts!!!

hahaha, i've never raced one in the mr2, i always thought my mr2 would take one no problem, must be the torque, or twin turbos, i don't know lol, but i do know it's muuuuch quicker :D

a wet day in the mr2 is worse than any other car!!! owhen they let go there's no getting it back!!! my rx8 was awesome in the wet, as was my 200sx :D although, an auto in the wet may be different :D

also, i know this needs twin everything pretty much, so...how do i plumb in a boost gauge?? i assume it'd go right onto the intake plenum?? but, do i need 2??? or a t piece from each plenum going into 1 gauge?? actually, think i've just answered my own question lol :)

The Plenum has a balance bar that equalises pressure, and this is where you take a single Boost gauge feed from.

Daz, you need to control yorself mate :whistling:

That would be a parking mast, used to judge how close to other objects your front bumper is.
