I've completly removed the HICAS from my zed and unplugged the large connector from the ASCD but my HICAS light is still on?

PS fluid level is fine.

Any ideas on what's going on?

ASCD is your cruise control ECU.

You unplugged it from the wrong ECU.

bugger, I mentioned the wrong ECU  It was the one under the main ECU that I unplugged the larger connector from. The steering also got a bit heaver, as I was expecting.

thought it was the smaller of the 2 connectors to unplug for the hicas light!

^^ Correct. It should be the Small connector from the PAS ECU.

By unplugging the large connector you have just disabled your PAS.

I've locked my HICAS out but left everything else in place for it, the only thing that's removed is the rack itself. My steering doesn't seem any heavier than Roses or Mikeys which both still have HICAS, so is there much benefit from actually removing everything else then?

Just removes the ugly solenoid from the drivers side and some piping to generally tidy up the engine bay, you also save a little weight.

You should only get heavier steering if you unplug the correct connection from the PS ECU (doing this removes the HICAS light but still allows it to light up for low ps fluid).

Steams , when you unplugged the correct connector on the PAS ECU did your Cruise Control stop engaging ?? or better still are there any diagnostics i can run to identify faults with the ASCD system and or ECU.

Thanks

I'm shamed to say that I don't know mate, my zed hasn't been on the road since I got it. So this could well be a future problem for me :blushing:
