Seen that before, usually means there is either a fault on the cable

to that coil pack or the coil pack connetcors have been changed and the cables mixed up, the bizzare thing is thecoil pack will work until it overheats and bang!!

Unlikely unless you have not used the car, in the cases I have come across with wiring/ connection issues the coil pack frys itself quite quickly ( less than 10 miles) could be a new intermittent fault though, the ptu / ecu do not have the ability to cause this issue as they only output trigger signals, check the coil pack power supply cables have not been reversed though, the issue we have seen is when the trigger cable and power cable have been reversed hence the coil pack gets 12v+ down the trigger circuit.

but if it was reversed it would have gone alot sooner it coverd about 200 miles what about a dodgy cable small break or heat!

If it's any help getting this solved. You have a PTU series 2 on there and also the injectors and coil pack connectors where replaced back in 2009. The connectors themselves were connected to the existing loom, so I would personally peel back the insulation on the coils and injectors and check that all the wires are still soldered in place.

Sounds like you had had a wire pull itself apart within the insulation of one of the coil packs, hense the reason your coil pack dropped off. Then by replacing the coil pack without finding the reason it died you still have the problem and this time it went into meltdown rather than dieing gracefully.

Check all the wires to the coil packs and injectors. Make sure there is no resistance either side of the soldered connection.

You'll probably need a new Nismo 555cc injector and NGK plug to replace them.

Jeff, in your experience would you also check the cylinder for debris /scoring or has this problem been known to just melt and leave the cylinders alone?

Any update or is it still a non runner?

Hi Stu

Hope all is well with you and yours

Matt poss found the problem, after being contacted by you or a reply above he found a bit of solder poking threw insulation and arking on the car so all ok on that front.

He is going to remove engine again to replace the manifolds, they are blowing again and getting worse.

This was a job i was going to do over the winter if i kept her:biggrin:

Nice one, thanks for the update. Always nice to hear the progress on the old girl.

What Manifolds is he putting on there?. Dupree / Mike Smith or something else?

I did mention the Mike smith ones.....that was the route I was going to take and I tried to get a group buy going! had plenty of interest but after the initial go ahead from z1 I did not get a reply from 5 emails to them to make final arrangments:mad2:
