Faulty Traction control? I dont know

I have had trouble with this TC since day 1. It has never worked correctly, well for no more than a few mins.

My passenger front ABS signal is not being picked up. I have changed it to a newer one, with no difference. The ABS diag says nothing wrong, and to test if that was working, I disconnected the sensor and went for a drive. With in a few yards the ABS light came on and signalled no passenger front signal. So this means the diag is working and that a signal is reaching it from the front passenger ABS.

This means that the TC is not getting the signal from the ABS unit. Which means either,

A: Bad wiring.

B: Bad TC unit.

I am no genius with wireing but all the others are working and I have checked it over and over.

Any one else have any ideas? Is there any way to test the TC box?

Don't worry changes machines and now back in the dark ages on an old laptop with W98 !

Yeah, see what you mean. Looks intermittent to me. With just that info I would expect a failing wheel speed sensor, or bad cabling. However, if you swap the sensors between wheel1 and wheel2 and it stays with that channel then I'd say faulty plug into the TC box, or faulty TC box itself.

Thanks for your help Andy.

Shall I call RaceLogic or Johnny?

Prob Johnny in the first instance, he may have a spare, or know someone nearby who might be able to try a swapout for you.

Andy, can I put the cat amongst the birds. It seems to work better over 40ish. Under 40 I hardly get a signal. Over 40 I get more of one. I.e More of a signal picked up than lost.

But if it's ALWAYS on that channel, no matter which wheel is connected to it ....

Yes its always on wheel 0, the wheel on the wet setting, I have changed all the wiring round 3 different ways, and its ALWAYS wheel 0/wet.

Thats correct

Original wiring, all read the ABS except Wet.

I change the wiring, all read the ABS except Wet

I change to another different one, all settings read the ABS except the Wet.

Orignially Wet/Wheel 0 was the front left, I thought it was broken, it wasnt. I change the wireing so that the rear left is on wet/wheel 0. All the other settings read the ABS, including the front left which before said it wasnt working, except wet/wheel 0 which is now the rear left. I change it so the rear right is on wet/wheel 0, ALL read the ABS except the rear right.

Is it looking like a bad TC box. My dad reckons it could be a bad slip dial, but I cant see how it effects it.

Stuart

Nope, I can't think how the switch could affect a single channel on only one setting. Time for a swap-out I think.
