Think something HICAS(ish) might have snapped

Well mine has the HICAS locked out, but knowing the other stuff that was done to this car before my time, probably not very well, even though it was only done last year. I got an advisory on my MOT that there was some play in one of the rear track rod ends from memory, would/could that being finally gone, cause a slight knocking and for the car to feel like it's crabbing?

Have you considered the SPL kit that GONZO12C is selling at a bargain reduced price.....do away with it altogether

Yep, absolutely, although I would not expect a sudden change.....gradually getting worse it should. Chances are its got a typical hicas lockout bar which retains the stock Hicas arms and bushes.

Best to jump under the back and take a gander before taking it for a drive again.

That is exactly all it has, after finding my MOT fail sheet (From April when it failed) there was an advisory on slight play in the rear nearside track rod end. I'll get the car jacked up later and see if I can spot owt. :( Didn't want to spend that much money after already spending so much money, unless I was upgrading something serious, if you get me?

Unfortanatly Replacement hicas bushes are annoyingly expensive.

It might be more feasble to sell your Hicas lockout bar (if its ok, it should be) and put the money towards the driftworks hicas kit which includes replacement arms and bushes.

.....or go the NA rear end route.....a lot more work but potentially very cheap and a good performance upgrade too.

Well I was thinking about locking out the HICAS on Roses anyway, so potentially, if her HICAS arms are good, or good enough for now, I could buy Martys kit, fit that to mine and fit my lockout bar to hers? Hadn't thought of that.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of, ok, looks like the driftworks kit it is then, because it actually replaces just about everything perishable, granted there are still bushes, but they're at least poly and should last 5 years or more with no worries. Now the mission is to try and get the kit by Friday, so I can fit it before Monday, so I can get my car painted, so I can drive down to London again on Tuesday :@

The outer bushes wear due to them moving with the standard hicas my spl kit replaces the rear track rod arms which also wear and lock out the outer bushes so that they do not move therefore wear is severly reduced that's why spl never designed to replace them.

I've ordered the Driftworks kit now, be here in the morning. Also today bought the stuff to do my ignition relocation/removal and Mikey brought me a stainless steel, straight forward, no fancy shit on it gear knob back from Baz's today, so that's going on it too over the weekend :D
