Due to replace a new fuel pressure regulator at the weekend as fuel is flooding into the engine.

Can someone advise on how to stop/cut the fuel supply while i carry this out.

Look here :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_02.htm There are a couple of pointers towards articles for replacing the fuel filters. You can either do it their way, or do it before the car is started in the morning - that way the pressure seems to ebb away overnight.

I've just replaced my fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure dampener and although some of the hoses were a bugger to dislodge, I didn't encounter any real problems. Best thing to relieve the fuel pressure (without disconnecting the fuel pump etc) is to do this repair after the car has been sitting idle over night (do not start engine first!) and undo the fuel cap. You should now be okay. There will still be some spillage so put some kitchen towel under the parts and pipes. When you've removed the old unit mind that it still contains some fuel.

 

Good luck - it shouldn't take you more than about 1/2 an hour!

Best thing to do is remove the Fuel Pump Relay - Its on the LHS of the Drivers Kick Panels - think you need to unscrew 4 screws.

 

Its a big fluro Green thing - just disconnect and leave the engine to tick over till it dies !

 

There will still be fuel in the system - so keep rags handy - You shuoldn't get 40psi to the face tho which aint ever nice !
