its soooooooooooooo much better its unbelievable!!! Blu Rays look awesome too!! :w00t:

seriously you've had a PS3 all this time on a standard def telly???!

it'll be like a different machine when you get an HDTV! PS3 still looks like a PS2 on a standard def telly!!

...or to put it in Z terms, it's like driving one without the turbos plugged in!

Yeah when we first came back to England we bought an HD Ready 32" Samsung, gaming was ok, when we bought the 46" LED HD Samsung we have now, WOW the difference was insane. Also connecting via a proper, quality HDMI cable makes a huge difference too.

Sorry to call you out on this one, but the quality of the HDMI cable makes no difference whatsoever. If its a standard length cable then you will get the same picture and sound from a £2 lead vs a £200 lead.

i kept getting my arse kick on cod and i had no idea where the snipers where. got HD then i could see the little fookers then i started to kick arse

HD makes a massive differance Al you will be amazed :cool3:

that's what happens to me mate, cant im getting killed on cod long before i culd ever see them

must save me pennies for a nice 42 incher lol

its everything with HD the colours and sound are more detailed. I went back to normal for a laugh and the quality was shocking.

You will need to switch your ps3 tp HD but thats easy :)

get a decent sound system too ;)

I have my PS3 hooked up to a 46" samsung 7 series & a 2.1 Harman Kardon system - the nuts! :D

Without wishing to get in to an argument about it, you're wrong! lol

Good quality cables ALWAYS make a difference, be it audio or visual, be it scart or HDMI. This also applies to USB and Firewire Leads, headphone cable, speaker cable, any kind of cable that is required to be a conductor, can be improved on and the better quality you buy, the better your experience. This also applies to SATA and PATA cables in a PC too btw.

it is a bit of a misconseption with HDMI cables - I have read scientific studies into this & as said over short distances a cheaper one is just as good! As it is a digital signal it is far less subject to breaking down the signal - the reviews actually tested the signal on a scope with no difference!!

This changes on a longer lead (like over 5 meters or something!) as the signal will break down the further it travels with a cheaper jobbie

you can use the optical lead for the sound. dont know if it makes a differance but im using one

HDMI - The digital signal is either there or it isnt. There is no difference in quality. Slight variation over MUTANT distances as said.

End of arguement.

interesting reading (if you find this kind of thing interesting LOL!) here: http://www.audioholics.com/education/cables/long-hdmi-cable-bench-tests

Yep as Paul said, and the link he put in his comment, it makes no difference with a £60 lead or a £5 lead. People did all the tests and came back and there was no difference under i think it was 20 metres?

Also i love my xbox on my 42" LED 1080p LG screen, the difference is mad, but its not complete without the Onkyo surround sound :D

I think the point is, if the kid at Curry's tries to sell you a 'gold-plated' HDMI cable for better quality, tell him to stick it up his ass!

I think the point is we have gone a bit :offtopic: - go & buy a HD TV!!

Fine, buy a £5 cable that'll break in a few months like the one we had did, I'll keep buying the £30 - £60 ones, which I know won't fail, have a guarantee/warranty if they do and I know have a longer life time, by the time you've bought 10 cables to do one job, costing you £50 and a whole load of agro, I'll still be on the first cable with no sign of any issues :D

In addition, digital signals can still be interrupted by interference from other cables. Regardless of what you may think/believe, the more expensive cables have better shielding and better conductivity, standing up better to interference from other cables/devices. btw power cables are the main culprit for causing interference with A/V equipment, you probably have a few of them with the PS3 itself, HD TV, BlueRay/DVD player, etc. The only cable you won't get interference on, is an optical, because it's a ray of light, not a signal operating down a wire.

I only state this after 8 years of working in mobile entertainment and dealing with just about every type of A/V equipment on the planet, both analogue and digital, plus being an IT geek (Now professional IT Geek) to the extreme since I was a bairn, thus understanding how digital signals are actually sent, travel, and received down the wire, but feel free to keep your £5 cable opinion, after all, everyone is entitled to one.

Use component, job done then, no faffing about with HDMI, and the signal is just as good quality, Component signal also handles 1080i and 1080p plus you get the option of getting an older TV like and EDTV that handles 1080p over component.

Im running my Xbox 360 over a 42inch plasma, through component (Y - Pb - Pr connection) you also do not suffer picture loss over long cables.

and before any one says that HDMI is better, please read this article

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/hdmi-vs-component,review-29615.html

They are the same in picture quality on a short cable, but both offer advantages over the other. so depends what you want to do to be honest, but for video gaming, it really shouldn't matter, both will out put a very good and strong HD image. So al, before you go upgrading your TV check to see if it can already support Component.
