Hi Dave mate

There are a few things that could cause this problem but first check out the connectors to the Tps which is located at the end of the right hand throttle looks like a little black box, also the tb`s may need cleaning or you have a sticky air control valve, sorry can not be more specific without the car in front of me.

try wiggling the wires on the tps (front right of engine) normally cures it for me.

Dave, if it has suddenly picked this up then it will be either the TPS or the Idle valve...

My bet is with the idle valve - on the passenger side of the engine, down the side of the plenum, there is a metal hose running towards the back. This is the air feed for the idle valve. There is a rubber hose on the end which curves 90 deg round the back of the engine and onto the idle valve. Take the rubber hose off the idle valve and squirt plenty of Carb cleaner in there - re-assemble and the idle should sit nicely.

Check the TPS connections first though - but not the connector on the TPS box itself - the one on the flying lead that comes out of the TPS wink.gif BTW the TPS is the little black box on the side of the throttle body on the passenger side...

Andy,Jeff & the Devil I LOVE YOU GUYS PROBLEM SORTED i will no doubt need your guys help again, so speak to you not to soon!!

only kidding thanks everso PS what do you think of turbo timers

cheers

Dave

Excellent Dave - what was it???

Turbo timers - good idea - most will measure how hard you are screwing the car and make sure the engine runs for long enough afterwards to allow the turbos sufficient cooling. The only downside is that you can't set the alarm until the timer has stopped. However IMO the advantages far out weigh the disadvantage wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

Sorry Andy it was a loose conn on the flying lead on the tps unit (as you sujjested)

cheers

Dave

p.s thanx for the t/timer info

The problem with turbo timers is you usually stand there waiting for your car to stop running before you walk away. So you might as well be sitting in it anyway. LOL biggrin.gif

Paul

Throttle Position Sensor - measures how much throttle you are using basically smile.gif

Here is my 2p worth as I have a Greddy FATT bought after my turbos went boom. I set the start point to 1 minute and it works out the amount of running idle time required from the alternator usage, I think?

If I get out with the timer still ticking away and try to set my alarm the doors will lock but the alarm will not set. When the timer finishes the doors are locked and the alarm remains unset. I have to remember to wait for it or go back to the car or lean out of a window to set the alarm when it stops running, but with the mongoose exhaust I can hear it ticking over inside of buildings anyway.

The Greddy FATT comes with music on start and idle timing, but so far I can only re-program the music on start, bah humbug.
