Mis firing.

My car seems to be starting misfiring. At low revs it pops and gurgles. Not all the time, more when its cold, but I havent noticed it happening over 2500rpm.

I have new plugs on, only about 1,000miles old. Could it be one of the coils dieing? Or the PTU?

Could be a few things Stuart, check the running whilst wiggling coil pack leads and then the same with injector leads see if anfd improvement or remove coil pack leads one at a time to see if one cylinder is not firing at all on tick over, could be bad luck on a faulty plug!

Stuart, have you sorted the coolant sensor connector out yet??? Sort one problem at a time!!! This could be causing your problem wink.gif The ecu changes the fuelling according to engine temp...

Andy.

When people talk of the fan spinning when the car starts, is it not supposed to spin at all? Or just spin at a slow speed?

I tried, when I started my car the fan was spinning, but when I wiggle the wire it makes the fan spin even faster.

Is it just a lose connection?

Stuart

Stuart, which fan is spinning? not the viscous one I hope wink.gif It is the one under the nose panel for the air con that shouldn't spin wink.gif

If the speed is changing as you wiggle the connector it does sound like a bad connection - the fan has three speeds I think according to the engine temp. If the ecu thinks the engine is very hot the fan will come on and the fuelling will go to pot....

No Andy the big fan at the front. Dont know if the viscus fan is turning.

Yes sounds like a bag connection. Sometimes when I start it up the fan is on full speed, really loud, others its fine.

I have cleaned the connections, it made little difference. I have a proper look later.
