Feeling REALLY generous, here's the info out of the Tech Sec !

If your AirCon has doesn't seem to get as cold as it used to, and you are worried it may need re-gassing, then here is a simple procedure to check you gas level.

There is an inspection glass on an aluminium AC pipe near the cruise control unit under the bonnet. (Picture to follow)

The procedure is :-

1. Door window: Open

2. A/C switch ON (for manual AC)

3. Auto switch ON (for...)

4. Temperature setting: MAX Cold (10C)

5. Fan speed 4 or HI

Check the sight glass after ~5 minutes.

Run the engine at 1500RPM.

Basically, the more bubbles there are, the lower you are on freon.

Thanks Dave,

something not related that will cheer you up

i'll be going to Le Mans in a Chimaera this year (only cos its a freebie)got a good pitch too.it will be interesting to see the difference between the two cars but having owned a couple of plastic sports cars i'm not expecting too much ;-) only kidding Dave.

Check out - http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/ (The Daily Telegraph’s ‘Motoring’ section) under FAQ #14 for list of Air conditioning specialists. Also note R12 vs R134a refrigerant issues.

My car has R12 (indicated on label in engine bay near n/s headlight) and was recharged last year by - Vehicle Air Conditioning Services, Weybridge, Surrey(http://www.vacs.co.uk/index.htm) for about £80

Thanks for the info, I was just about to post the same message.

First time I tried mine with the ambient higher than the car, same prob.

Revs pick-up ok when AC turned on, so assuming it just needs recharging?
