After a long time sitting I have finally found the motivation to get my.Z finished. It is running an AEM with dual uego wideband. It has the tendency to cut out when returning to idle and has a cough at about 2500rpm sometimes. Is there anyone that would be willing to map the system? I don't mind travelling anywhere in the uk to get this done right!

Just to put this out there, my car was doing EXACTLY that and after seeing a post about throttle balancing I checked mine out. Sure enough, my drivers side throttle was opening about 1 - 2mm after the other, which after being fixed, has completely fixed that issue.

Thanks mate. I shall get the garage it is at to check this out this week as a starting point.

Where is this company based. Can't see any info on website.

Cheers

they use a dyno in surrey chap its under the mapping section

im also wanting to get my Aem mapped by ryan when the car's done, he's amazing with them

Highly regarded for AEM and HKS mapping is Greg at Protuner; maps all the Japspeed cars amongst other top competative cars and it's all done in house

Not too many guys about who'd stay working until gone 4 in the morning on your car just to make sure that it's ready to go to comp at short notice.

Just back from the garage and the throttles are balanced and it is definitely a mapping issue. Just fitted splitfire coilpacks also. Are there any mappers that would travel to Glasgow? I can hire a brand new dyno that is just round from my house?

Also, I read about the AEM having issues with the Cas. My Cas is a series 2 new style one. Could this be part of the problem?

CAS would be the reason for the hickup, not an easy fix though. There is another cas disc from AEM you can try which does fix it but PITA to change and even then couldn't the new disc working on mine

Did you get the disc through the AEM website? Do you live with the hiccup or have you gone down another route?

Get an emerald system mate.Much easier to get mapped.

If i switch to emerald which one do you recommend? and could I keep and use the AEM uego sensors and 3.5 bar map sensor with it or would they not be compatible?

Out of interest how does nistune compare to a complete stand alone system?! will it run with a MAP sensor or are you still limited to MAF?

yes, got the disc from AEM. Lived with the hiccup, only happened occasionally. Have recently changed to emerald but for other reasons, will share my thoughts once it's mapped.

Thanks Jaffa, was the hiccup at about 2500-3000 rpm or much higher? How was the idle when you were coming to a stop? That's my 2 issues and they may be related and not the Cas. Going to check the make of Cas also.

The map sensor is useable and so is the wideband 02 sensor, you may need an egt sensor fitting depending on your state of tune.John Dixon is the guy to speak too.The final mapping is done by Dave Walker who is a legend in tuning circles. And the mapping is a fixed price.

Jaffa, yours still not up and running fully yet?

no, it's been sat in a bodyshop for the last 2 months getting resprayed :) not 100% finished, but picking it up today and taking it to Emerald tomorrow for mapping.

Cheers Jimmer, I have emailed John Dixon and am tempted to swap the AEM to an emerald system if it is easier to map and there are guys who are very capable of mapping it.

Does anyone have a contact phone number for John Dixon?

Hi Bazz,

Have you had any joy with the AEM? My engine is mid build just now in Glasgow. I have the AEM EMS so will need to find somewhere capable of mapping it

I was going to go down south to get it mapped as couldn't find anyone in Scotland. I got mine done down south when the engine was fitted but that was at Thor and I wouldn't go near them ever again. That said I decided to get an emerald system as I wanted to go down a different route. The AEM is a great bit of kit with lots of good features. Just need to be prepared to travel to get it mapped properly.

Yeah, it appears so. I think I'll have to get my hands on a AEM 3.5 bar map si I can run dual intake and ditch the MAF.

I hear a lot of opinions on the AEM but it appears that, if it's in the right hands, it's just the ticket

Thanks Jimmer. I have been in touch with John and he is sorting the emerald system out for me as we speak.
