running rich

Featured Replies

Running rich is not the best way to look at this problem, best to think of it as incorrect or incomplete fuel burning that way when it is suggested that poor ignition timing could be a cause it makes more sense or a blocked air filter, poor afm output, and the main culprit bad connection at the temps sensor it illustrates how far reaching the issue can be, and of course it can sometimes be a combination of all of them, 02 sensors in the main on our age of cars are for corrective fuel trimming not for full fuel calculation.

Often a bad 02 sensor is best unpluged as its often corrupted signal will cause more problems than it does unplugged, we see many zeds running just fine and MOT passes are fine with these unplugged.
