Legally, the offence you'd be done for is "not displaying a valid tax disc" but in real terms it's at the copper's discretion since he can check on his police database.

Probably best not to, though.

ANPR won't bother you, but an excitable traffic warden or Police Officer might nab you.

It is technically an offence not to display a tax disk whether you have a valid tax disk or not.

I would say yes but be careful were you park as you will still get a ticket for no display of tax disc imo

Yep youre car is taxed, probably still an offence not to display but only minor and low risk....go for it :)

The tax ran out in Nov 2010 and I have just taxed it starting June. I couldn't tax it until today online so technically there is no way I can drive 1st June?? If the tax disc takes 5 days I'll lose 5 days. That's not fair is it?

Taxed my car today online. The disc is in the post. Can I drive it without displaying the disc ???

Cheers.

If you look in the light blue box on the V11 (Renewal reminder to get a tax disc) it says "You will have an extra five working days to display your old tax disc if you tax your vehicle online or by phone befrore the 31st May 2011"

So I reckon you're OK..............assuming you have the old tax disc

Edited by Apache

no I taxed it today. If I taxed it yesterday it was backdated to the 1st May.

you should would have been better going to the post office to tax it but then again you did not know.

you would have to be sooooo unlucky to get ticketed mate! i allways drive without the new disc until it arrives, and have been stopped by an ossifer, who radio'd through to check and soon as as he knew it was taxed he let me on my way :-) the last one i didnt change for months lol, took a zed meet for someone to actually point out ide forgotten to change it lol

so what if you put your tax disc in your front window of your house??? it is displayed

Well I made it to work no probs. Feels GREAT to be back in my Z!!!

Nice one Steve......

......and I'd have driven it from 1/6/11 too if I had just taxed it. You have paid for the disc to start from then so you are legal; and whilst there is technically the offence of failing to display the disc, just carry the confirmation of licencing with you and you should be OK if stopped. It would be against the spirit of the law for PC Piglet to prosecute and probably not worth their while or the cost of the hearing!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
