where can i loop chain/rope on the engine to lift the engine/box out ?

 

as there dont seem to be anuff room

on the intake manifolds but would like to lift there

Thread a rope ( blue nylon type) through the plenum in between the coil pack and injector area, never fails and give good balance.

yeah cheers i did that in the end ..

 

no body told me i had to undo the steering rack bar .. lol

 

and like a numpty i forgot to empty the oil out of the auto box .. lol

 

well engine is out on the floor taken me all day well 10ish till 7.30 so dont think i have done to bad seems that its my first 300zx i have worked on

you only have to undo the steering rack bar if your taking the gearbox out with the engine, which i presume you did. considering the gear box oil comment lol

 

PS. if you get gearbox oil on your clothes dont put them through the washing machine expecting to get it out. all you will do is end up soiling the other clothes you put in with them, and for any other clothes on the next few washes after. (well had that happen to me with a brand new washing machine when i did my engine change and gearbox out job on the first zed i owned)

When you go to put the engine back in, undo one of the mounts from the bottom. Don't take the nut off all the way though. This will make it much easier to get it back in.
