hi guys

i'm after a cheap digital slr camera and i know there are a few keen photographers on here.

Obviously times are hard so needs to be as cheap as possible but what do you guys recommend?

needs to have fairly good zoom too.

problem with a DSLR, is that the camera bodies are the cheap bits, the len's are the expensive bits. if your after a entry level DSLR, then get a cheap Canon Eos 300D from Ebay, prices range from £80 (if your damn lucky) to around £115 + , don't expect to get a len's, or if you do then it wont be a very powerful zoom len's

Eos 300D is a 6mp camera, with all decent functions and being a canon EOS, will accept all EOS EF len's

Expect to pay between £80 and £400 for a zoom len's

A good starter zoom lens is the Sigma 70-300mm but get the APO version, it's quite a bit better, can be picked up for £70-£100 or if your feeling a bit flush the Canon 70-300 is a very good lens for the money £250+ 2nd hand.

As regards the camera itself the entry level canons 300d 350d 400d are quite small to hold, fine if you have smallish hands the next size up is the 20d 30d you can get a 20d for about £120-£150 feels much sturdier being a metal bodied camera.
