Guest Chris Bower Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 right, i had my girlfriends car on ebay, and a chap from ireland had baught it, hes rung me saying i must meet him at east midlands airport tmrw?, and that i will look at it then, but hes had 100% feedback but no activity for past couple years, also he had a comment back in 2008 saying he baught a car in uk but never picked it up!, but i also have a chap in england who did not win the bid but wants to come and view it tonight? what do i do please help Quote
Bartflaster Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Let the guy who wants to view tonight have a look, if no luck at the airport tommorow, ring him back. That or tell him you will ring him tommorow if the buyer doesn't turn up ... Quote
WelshZ Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 As above! Had you arranged to meet the chap from Ireland at the airport? If not, id make him view the car where you want to, it's not his call and if he really is serious about buying he won't have a problem with it. Quote

Depends what the state of play is in Ireland with Rover 75s tbh. I sold a BMW 525i Sport to a guy in Ireland once, he paid naff all for it really, about £700 if memory serves, but I was emigrating to NZ and it's all I needed for it anyway. He flew in to Manchester though, then got a train to my town, I just had to pick him up from the train station, take him back to my house, then he paid me and drove back to Ireland. As it turns out, the car was worth thousands in Ireland because there are barely any of them and they are somewhat collectors items, he didn't want it for himself, he wanted it to sell it, at the price of £700 he was going to make so much profit from selling it in Ireland that it was worth the cost of the flight, train journey, petrol, ferry back to Ireland, import taxes into Ireland etc. Bizarre I know, but he told me all this before he left. You can't rule him out for being a genuine buyer, even if he is wanting to travel that far for a Rover 75  If you've stated collection only then it's got to be on your terms. Your the seller don't let the buyer dictate to you. Quote
Guest lee dent Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I had an experience whilst selling my dads R107 450SL merc A guy from Ireland was certain he wanted it and made plans to pick up the vehicle and convinced me he'd turn up at the local train station..Train arrived, no buyer tried to contact but no answer/reply..Re advertised again on ebay and guess what he tryed the same again..told him to jog on.Sold in the end to a uk buyer who now has it on display with his collection of classics:)..Just be carefull. My 2 groats worth.Lee Quote
300ZX_666 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 You can't let the buyer dictate to you where or how he gets to view your car, tell him it is pick up only, and you will meet him local to you, how far is the airport from you? I would give him the name of a local coach or bus stop and tell him you will meet him there. As already said, if he is serious about purchasing, he will not have a problem with that. Quote
