shell has started door to door care work and i need to claim it back, think she can get about 40p a mile back (sh1t as it cost's nearly £50 a week in juice)

someone has also told her she can get a better tax code as being a carer?

any other tips apart from getting a diesel lol

She should be able to claim it back through the company she works for, if she works for herself, then the rub is you'll have to claim it back with VAT returns and/or self assessment stuff, depending on how she does it. Diesel always a good idea and the tax code thing, I think that depends on if she's a volunteer or not.

We have been told where I work that from 1st April the rate set by HMRC has gone up to 45p per mile.

Self assessment.. - Its bloody years since I claimed for mileage and every year I still get sent a self assessment form. Every year they end up giving me a cheque for a few hundred quid tax I overpaid. You'd have thought they'd just stop sending me them, seeing as I'm PAYE and don't claim any other expenses now.

I hate filling in tax returns

Used to be 40p/mile for first 10k miles then 25p/mile for any over 10k.

Worked out at about a few hundred quid a year for me, despite doing about 20 thousand work miles a year..

You should try calling the tax office and explaining that you are PAYE and asking that they drop the need to fill in a tax return.

I work through an umbrella company and when the tax people found out they said I don't have to fill one in
