Our new MR2 :cool2:

 

Decided we'll never ever replace Zedward, unless its with another Zed, which we will after we qualified, so got something else fun, cheap and still, in my opinion, really cool. Forgotten how fun it is to drive an MR2, love the driving position and the handling!

Cheers Marty, its pretty tidy, UK spec, FSH, 92k miles. Alloys need a refurb, and despite our auto electrician fleecing us yesterday morning, he still hasn't stopped the weird feedback through the stereo when the car is running :censored: but apart from that she's sweet as a nut. Or banana lol

Surely an MR2 would cost about the same as a Z wouldn't it? Both to buy, insure, run etc. Maybe slightly less thirsty, but that'd be about it I'd think.

Not even close mate! Marc can't get insured on a Zed for any sort of sensible price and its much less thirsty. In fact insurance is same as it was on the Puma and £100 less excess too. Had an MR2 before so knew the running costs etc. Apart from the Glanza, all our cars have been NAs so bit less thirsty

Zedward was an NA too - not for much longer I suspect tho!

Marc's 24 and insurance is £37 a month

Yeah I understand, I was running an R32 GTR when I was 21 and the insurance was £4,500 a year, then a BMW 525iS when I was 24 and it was over £1K, now I'm 28 and the Z is about £600 a year. Insurance is a killer.

Hi Jane, i dont know if it helps or not, but when fitting an aftermarket stereo to my mates MR2, we had a similar problem, then discovered he had tried wiring the speakers to the speaker output of the stereo. The reason i found he had the problem, is that the speaker system is self powering in the MR2, ie each side has their own power amps, so only the audio output signal on the phono plugs need to be connected and not the speaker output wires of the stereo.

 

So the stereo amp output speaker wires are not used, as you cant put amplified speaker output to a signal input of another amp.

Thats helpful thanks, Marc'll have another look. Annoyed that our sparky charged us £50 yest tho for essentially just sorting out the electrical fault that meant the windows were't working. Won't be using or recommending him again!

Nah was just young and getting paid a lot, so instead of saving to buy a house or anything useful like my friends, I blew it on a fast car. Always had the same problem, by all accounts I should be getting rid of the 300, but I'm not :D

I've considered one of these many times - the girlfriend wants an Audi TT next , but I'm thinking I'll be getting.. ahem, SHE'LL be getting one of these little bad boys!

 

If you actually keep it longer than 46.5 hrs then I could be interested when you come to sell!

 

Good look with it - but knowing Toyotas, other than a few washers and bushes, it should be a pretty cheap and reliable car - fingers crossed for ya!

 

Shame it wasn't a T-bar - but then again, you like your slick tops!!
