tankzx Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Right it's really starting to bug me now I have 1 tappet that likes to tap some times on start up then it dissapiers when warm but if I open it up at all it comes back any ideas on how to sort this ? Thanks Quote
ck300z Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 it will (likely) be the hydraulic lifters, there is a treatment you can put in with the oil so that may help! Quote
vodkashots Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 pablito had the same problem, hes used a sticky lifter product (cant remember the blooody name of it now) and it cleared up lol Ill text him and see what it was called. Quote
hollandrob81 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 ive used that wynns stuff twice now, but its still tappy. whats the next step (if any) ? Quote
groover Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 You could try a thicker viscosity oil, but if the lifters are on their last legs, there isnt alot you can do really but to replace them. Its not likely to go bang lol, just annoying. Are you sure its the lifters? the vvt springs if worn can sound rattly, but usually disappear above 3k revs Quote
ZX-TT Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I had teh same and used the Forte engine flush give it a good hour run, changed the oil for a good 10/40 semi syn and then used the Forte top end treatment and it worked a treat. great stuff. Quote
