i'm thinking temp sensor but correct me if you think otherwise, on cold start i'm getting a tickover of between 1500-2000rpm only problem is when the cars upto temp its still ticksover between 1000-1500rpm with a good blip of the throttle it will sometimes drop to 800ish where it should be but if i drive a short distance tickover is then back at 1000-1500rpm i'm thinking as i said coolnt temp sensor maybe? (tickover is normal if i disconnect it) but open to suggestions

Id change it and see if it still does it, might need its idle adjust changing, but until you change the temp sender, you cant be sure. have you checked your water level?

yes water & oil levels are fine car had a boost leak fixed and had tickover/timing etc checked at zed world last oct (just before it went off the road) but this problem has been there for a while never seems to do it if its at a garage though it always behaves then

oh yes every time i might give temp sensor a good clean first i know the connectors a little broke up so if i'm doing sensor might as well do the connector too

Give your maf and air filter a good clean to. I had the same problem and i change temp sensor and sensor plug plus cleaned maf and air filter a clean and seemed to fix the problem. Only cost me £10 for temp sensor so.not worth messing about just change it
