i want to start ordering parts for my build,

what would you guys recommend for an engine rebuild,

crank and rods are stock so do i choose oem and grade them accordingly or go acl.??

acl how do i grade them as they specify std and oversize grades in .25 steps? does that relate to the oem grading chart?

Grading the OEM bearings is bit of a PITA, and unnessesary really. Im sure when i first did it I noticed that the the Difference in grades available is smaller than allowable tolerance anyway.

ACL are definatly the popular choice. I believe Jimmer uses ACL too.

For ACL bearings, If crank has not been machined and within oem tolerances then use Standard size.

The alternative sizes are for machined cranks.

I had no idea what the difference with ACL Race and ACL standard bearings is, so had a google, and found that the Race version used "high strength alloy steel tapered bore pin to save weight"

I guess may as well If the price difference is reasonable, but not a big deal.

thants excellent thanks dave.

my crank does not need grinding so acl standard or race bearings in standard size it is

As David said i do use ACL bearings, the grading is a load of *****x imho, the difference in the grades are microns ffs.I use duraglides when i can get them.Ive had trouble of late and had to use race ones which are quite a bit more expensive.
